2021 Elouan Pinot Noir 750ml
BY Elouan
Description
Description
Elouan means 'good light,' reflective of the cool yet abundant sunshine found in this winegrowing region. The unique climate and diversity of soil types influence both canopy and fruit, forming the foundation of this wine's northern character.
Winter began with above average temperatures and abnormal rainfall due to a wet January and low rainfall in February. The dry weather pattern continued from March to early May. Mid-May to June brought warm and wet weather yielding a lighter crop with vigorous and healthy grapevine growth. Veraison started in early August, and the crop quickly ripened as a result of the warm September weather. The fruit had beautiful flavor and tannin development complemented by a brilliant spectrum of color and lively acidity. We began harvesting the grapes in mid to late September and completed our harvest by mid-October.
Tasting Notes
Garnet in color, this wine opens up with aromas of bright cherry, plum pie, cocoa nibs and hints of baking spice. The palate is rich and well-balanced with notes of raspberry jam, candied cranberry, wild bramble and a lingering pepper finish. Incredible depth and concentration complement rich tannins and lead into a smooth, medium finish. Pairs well with French onion soup topped with warm baguette slices lightly brushed with olive oil or Italian sausage and arugula pizza topped with pickled red onions.
